Most builds go onto one of these plans the day they launch. It covers hosting and security, and it means there's someone to call when you need something changed. The point is that you don't have to think about the site once it's live.

Builds are 50% deposit up front, 50% at launch.
You always own your domain. It's registered in your name, in your account, from day one. It never sits in mine.
